Teach all the children of the World.

Recently I was speaking to a teacher who had taught in the West Indies for a number of years. She is now here serving as a substitute teacher. She said that the students here do more worksheets and work, but that they learn less than the children in the West Indies. She said that this is because in the West Indies there is less paper and there is less "equipment" (technology), therefore students have to listen and interact more. When something needs to be transmitted, it is written by someone on the board. Everyone sees it. They must be careful. They also have to spend more time discussing because of the lack of paper and equipment. She said that not every student can have books and so sometimes they have to listen to information more. This helps them with learning to listen and concentrate. What do you think?
